Like most aspiring physicians, I went to medical school to help people. During my career, I have listened to many stories and heard many questions from my patients. I came to realize that they need a kind and experienced person to sit with them, someone who listens deeply and can support them as they communicate their symptoms. They need someone who can facilitate their participation in their healing process.
What has influenced me to look beyond conventional medicine to help them? Three experiences, illustrated in these stories, formed my own journey.
